Russian super-geek WZOR  has a copy of Windows 8 Released to Manufacturing and will release it by Torrent

Microsoft announced that developers, volume licensees and MSDN subscribers will get the Gold Release-to-Manufacturing code for Windows 8 on August 16th, 2012.

Super geek and hacker WZOR already got a copy of Windows 8 RTM with the activation keys. He published this video on YouTube August 2, 2012. The video, which has no sound and moves very quickly, shows the major screens of Windows 8 and Windows 8 apps.

No doubt a little searching will get anyone who wants to risk a computer virus the bit torrent copy of Windows 8.

Microsoft recommends waiting until they ship their code with real activation keys. Since Windows 8 will likely have Windows Updates before it actually goes live, the hacked copies will be interesting history but not likely useful as production code.

How does it look? It looks as good as the Release Preview that shipping in June. Hopefully, Microsoft will have smoothed out the rough edges the more than one million down-loaders have discovered.

I would expect the code to be reasonably secure and certainly workable.

The big question is what will Microsoft re-name “Metro” since it got yanked as the official name for the new touch interface.

I am sure we can wait until August 16th or October 26th for Windows 8. You will be able tp upgrade 5 home computers for only $39.99.

In the meantime, it’s the hottest summer for decades and everyone has better things on their mind, I’d guess.
