Your next Toyota may change color

Toyota Fun V-ii concept car has smartphone controlled color skin and embedded driver fun

By Stephen Pate – The Toyota Fun-Vii Concept may be a car that changes color with our moods and acts like a virtual device inside Tron.

Toyota has released this video of Fun-Vii Concept car that can change its look with instructions from a tablet or smartphone.

Not only does the car change its outside color, it’s really a virtual car that can be a game player on the Grid. The Fun Vii conceptualizes a world where cars provide real driver assist for increased safety.

The Fun Vii is the car that people hooked on smartphones will adopt – when and if it ever ships from Toyota. The car becomes part of the connected world people are learning to live in.

The name comes from the concept – fun to drive.

It will be a driving experience like no other. Forget the phony testosterone wars of the last century. This car is a computer on wheels with driver fun as the goal.

Prius came first

Having driven a Prius for the past three years, I believe Toyota is the company that can make this happen.  Toyota is capable of the research and willing to introduce revolutionary vehicles.

Derided by some as a sewing-machine on wheels, the Prius delivers a fun driving experience and the highest fuel economy on the street.

The Prius displays are innovative and informative.

Unlike the false driver screens on the Ford Focus and look-a-like competitors, the Prius gives the driver important and fun feedback on energy usage and the car’s condition.

In November, I met the owner of the first Prius that was purchased on PEI 10 years ago. The happy driver bought it from the PEI Government who purchased a few as experiments. He had the original batteries and could not be happier.

If any car company can deliver the Fun Vii, it’s Toyota.

Toyota holds more than 10,000 patents on high-tech automobile inventions used in the Prius and more than a decade of experience.

GM’s early introduction of the Chevy Volt has resulted in a buy-back program after some cars have erupted on flames. The Ford promise of hi-tech cars has resulted in high rates of problems for the car owners.

Press

“The Toyota Fun-Vii Concept car. Something awesome at the Tokyo Motor Show this year. The whole vehicle body can be used as a display, body colour and image can be displayed at will as easy as uploading to Facebook. The car can reflect your personality and individuality as you drive, every hour, every minute. Possibly not a good idea after a heavy night, bad day or for road rage sufferers Check it out.” Drive.co.uk
