Rolling Stone has announced that The Witmark Demos: 1962-1964 (The Bootleg Series Vol. 9) will include a 3rd disc with seven songs from a 1963 concert.

Songs on the disc are: Honey Just Allow Me One More Chance; Talkin’ John Birch Paranoid Blues; Ballad of Hollis Brown; Masters of War; Talkin’ World War III Blues; Bob Dylan’s Dream; and Talkin’ Bear Mountain Picnic Massacre Blues.

The concert was on a tape held by Rolling Stone co-founder and music critic Ralph Gleason. “It had been forgotten, until it was found last year in the clearing of the house after my mother died,” says Ralph’s son Toby Gleason. “It’s a seven inch reel-to-reel that sounds like it was taped from the mixing disc. A collector/dealer associate of the family said ‘This might be worth something to the Dylan office’ and we sold it to them last year.” Rolling Stone

According to ISIS magazine, Sony has picked one partner per country to distribute the special disc in a bonus pack.  In the United States, that will be Amazon.com.

Since Sony is putting the final touches on the marketing, the exact details are not known. Even Amazon.com don’t have the information on their site.

The Amazon.com site for The Original Mono Recordings hints at the bonus by calling it a 9 disc set.

In any case, the bonus disc will only be available for pre-orders. We will update this information as it becomes known. The shipping date is set at October 19, 2010.

“My father had nothing to do with that Brandeis show,” he says. “I suspect he got the tape from Bob himself or from one of the people in Bob’s organization. My father was one of the nationally credited writers that wrote about Bob the most, and they became close.”  Rolling Stone

Isis corrects the Rolling Stone concert date as May 10, 1963. “I also notice that the Rolling Stone article gives the date of the Brandeis performance as being May 1, 1963. This date is incorrect. In the April issue of ISIS Magazine, (#149) Ian Woodward wrote a lengthy article about Dylan’s non-appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. In this piece, Ian talks about the Brandeis University 1st Annual Folk Festival and ISIS reproduces the poster from the event. The date on the poster is “Friday May 10 & Saturday May 11 1963”. Dylan is listed as appearing on Friday, May 10. ISIS magazine

Bob Dylan fans of course are pleased by all output from the Bob Dylan Re-issue Factory. Videos and other items are planned for the future.
