Holier than thou comments on CBC The National belie Coyne’s post at Maclean’s Magazine

The picture of Lady Gaga in her red lace dress is printed in the recent Maclean’s magazine. Other than some careful air brushing, the same photo is available on the web.

Means nothing except on December 3rd we had to put up with the sanctimonious comments of Andrew Coyne, National Editor of Maclean’s, on CBC The National news.Television news sucks and here’s why

Coyne, who is mix of dry snobbishness and neo-conservatism, was holding forth that the media had become like cheap tabloids. Speaking about the Tiger Woods story, he said the media run towards ever sensational story that pandered to prurient interests, or words to that effect.

Here is how Coyne describes himself on the CBC site “Though he claims he to have a distaste for politics (calling it a “sleazy, awful business, full of desperate unpleasant people”), Andrew considers himself an optimist and believes that there is a better politics out there – and that it is the role of the media to help bring it out.”

He stoops to conquer or at least make a killing in Toronto media circles.

Coyne is a member of the The National At Issue panel who hold forth on topics of importance to interpret the news for the rest of us.

I thought Coyne’s words on the Tiger Woods scandal reports didn’t ring true. Doesn’t this guy work at Maclean’s magazine? Yeah, he works as a senior editor for Maclean’s.

Maclean’s has been delivering sleaze and cheesecake shots of women in scanty clothing since I was a child. They love to report a scandal, in a family magazine way.

It was considered naughty and exciting at 12 to steal away with the latest issue of Maclean’s and hunt for the picture with cleavage or well exposed thigh.

Of course, at this age it is merely…interesting, yeah that’s the word I was searching for.

Here’s some real comic relief.
