Wouldn’t it be nice if the CBC staff really cared

Like more than one turkey dinner a year

CBC turkey

It’s great that CBC has a Dickensian event once a year to provide turkey dinners for 3,o00 families on PEI.

What are those 3,o00 families supposed to do the rest of the year?

Charity is nice but social justice is a permanent solution.

The big message of Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol that poverty sucks and money doesn’t buy happiness. It’s a book on social reform not charity.

So now it’s all boiled down to an annual public relations and charity event for the media.

CBC has tremendous power to report on social issues. It generally chooses not to until it wants to get in the Christmas spirit.  Maybe that will be the message they learn on University Avenue this year waking from a bad dream.

We’ve been jerks and need to care for our fellow man 365 days a year.

  2. We started with this theme, changed to another one and came back. It’s the one our readers like best.
