Speaking of overated: Dylan.
Has the distinction of inspiring a million or more talentless singers to open their yaps and warble, just because Mrs Zimmerman's baby boy did it.

Dr. Jimmy wrote: "good to see him reaffirming his Christian faith"

To me, xmas celebration in the western world these days, has got nothing at all to do with christian faith or religion whatsoever (unless you call it the faith of Mammon).

xmas tree in your house - santa claus coming to town -giving gifts to kids who already have everything - rudolph the rednosed reindeer - avarice and gluttony: whats this got to to with the christian faith?

The red-clothed, fat Santa figure we all know today, is an american invention, first appearing in the 1860s, and Santa's european "cousins", all have old pagan roots. Where is the christian aspect here?

The way modern christmas celebration has lost any religious meaning, has left an empty shell, being filled to the brim with non-christian images like Santa Claus. Is this not pagan worship, cloaked in a modern mantle?

The two big songs left off the Bootleg Series album are When I Paint My Masterpiece, which was the first song that featured Dylan every night and This Land is My Land (Woody Guthrie) that closed each show. Why in the world these would not be included baffles me too.

Except for a few things, agreed-she's very overated.

She knew how to "get around" back in those days, I've heard.

To the poster about Dylan's xmas lp,
The xmas lp is called "In the Heart", not "In the
Soul", an important distinction I think. Yes,
Virginia, there is a Santa Clause.

What p.o.'s me about the Rolling Thunder Revue
is they left off the two covers which absolutely
slay me. I don't understand it except for monetary
reasons. It's cool getting the vinyl though if
for nothing else than the 12x12 brochure of
Larry Sloman's notes.

I was in the thrift store the other day and came
upon a book called "Rolling Thunder". Cool I
thought and was bringing it up to the cash
register, kind of looking at the contents until
I realized it was about some indian and had
nothing to do with Dylan.

Thanks for the article.
