Myrtle Jenkins Smith having a going out of business experience
Ascent Strategies has gone off-line
Myrtle Jenkins Smith is having a going out of my businesses month. We noticed on Friday that Ascent Strategies website is off line. Email to the partners is being returned “DNS Error: Could not contact DNS servers”.
If you have any insider information on this one pass it along svp.
Ascent Strategies is a company Jenkins Smith used to contract a series of expensive reports for the government on rural school closings, people with disabilities, and aging. The answers were predictable supportive of Ghiz objectives – close schools and pacify the seniors and disabled.
Recently Jenkins Smith advised CBC she was closing Make-A-Reservation (a PNP company), Conference and Events Management (an Alanis Morissette fiasco company) and selling off her share of her employer’s building.
According the the government website there are two companies called Ascent: Ascent Consulting and Ascent Strategy Group. Both are owned by 6814638 Canada Inc of 118 Sydney Street Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
6814638 Canada Inc is a Federal Company that has Stephen Dunne as its contact. The two directors are Stephen Dunne and Myrtle Jenkins Smith.
Ascent employed several retired, high-ranking civil servants like Gordon MacKay (Ghiz family friend, former PEI deputy minister and Liberal party worker) and Phil MacDougall (former PEI deputy minister and brother of Pat Mella), among others.
Ascent got a fair number of contracts from the newly elected Ghiz government mainly because MJS worked for Ghiz. It didn’t take long for people to draw a line between the dots and figure out most of the output was pulp fiction.
If you want a report to justify government inaction on social change or negative changes like closing schools, get one political operative like MJS, add some experienced bureaucrats in retirement and stir gently. The results will be sure to please the Premier’s Office.
The new experts in town will be MRSB who despite being trained and experienced as Chartered Accountants have gone boldly where no bean counters have gone before – early childhood education consulting. CA firm connected with PNP scandal to study child care funding

Will Tourism Charlottetown CEO pay back PNP funds?
Exactly what is Myrtle Jenkins Smith up to ?

Interesting. I imagine Ascent’s credibility (such very little as a Dunne-MJS start-up might have as a serious social policy think tank) got blown by both the set-up and the output, so that not even a Ghiz government dared use them as a fig leaf to justify predetermined actions.
Hope someone from the media asks MJS about this and the Opposition revisit each of their “reports” and re-examines their credibility.
Did it not have PNP money as well?
It does rather beg the question of why MJS would give up all these lucrative high income businesses in exchange for a position as a wage slave in the buddies-looking-after-buddies world of Charlottetown quangos. Or had her credibility just been too blown to continue being employed as the all-purpose consultant by the Ghiz government?
Surely it couldn’t have anything to do with competence. The Ghiz government has never acted against incompetence by its friends.
How will Val now be able to function? Or will Tourism Charlottetown actually run Tourism PEI? The next public meeting will tell the tale – who will be scripting Val?

Myrtle is in the middle of a Fire storm of trouble that is just getting going.
Myrtle thought she could rape and pillage the taxpayers money while her best buddy Robbie Ghiz was Premier. Let’s keep in mind that is Myrtle that advises all of Ghiz’ senior Advisors. I understand that neither Townsend,LecLair or Tex Macdonald basically don;t use the washroom without first getting advice from Myrtle.
Some of the those sound (LOL) decisions that Ghiz has made are directly connected to none other than Myrtle.
She was their was with her hands out wanting more and more of those tax dollars for her own little( but vastly growing) piggy bank.
The real problems for Myrtle are just beginning. So where is the over $200,000 that she received for her Now defunct Make A Reservation Inc Company?
Not to mention that she said she was shutting down her Conference and Event Company but this company owns shares in Make a Reservation along with Stephen Dunne and Kevin Murphy.
The conflict here is huge…Kevin Murphy is President of the Tourism Group and he owns a company along with Myrtle and now Myrtle has been hired a tax payers funded employee of Tourism Charlottetown.
We all listed to Doug Newson go on at length about how he would be checking for possible conflicts. I would say Doung Newson’s ability to see a conflict would be about as good as his ability to be able to find Snow in January. The conflict if right in front of him if he wants to see it.
Kevin Murphy, Stephen Dunne, Myrtle Jenkins Smith & DOug Newson are just nice little group of crooks whose day is fastly approaching and the Fire Storm of Trouble is going to evelope them very fast.
