Guardian reveals government jobs better
Just in time for the Holidays priceless information flows out onto the Charlottetown Guardian pages
The story yesterday in the Charlottetown Guardian Public sector workers shielded from recession: pollster was an incredible revelation.
For decades Maritimers and Islanders had believed that the best jobs were in Boston, Toronto and Calgary. Now we are told that scientific evidence proves government jobs are better.
I was so shocked by this startling news yesterday that I secluded myself in the studio to record a jug-band version of Bourgeois Blues (See UPEI Season’s Greetings ReMix).
When I awoke today I still could not wrap my mind around the stunning reversal of our thinking the Guardian is reporting.
The senior Guardian reporter summed up the whole story in the first sentence “It pays to work for the public sector, literally.” (Charlottetown Guardian) Guess it just dawned on him too.
Who in their right mind would have thought that: working in the public sector is better than minimum wage plus at Tim Horton’s, or MacDonald’s or retail.
Over the holidays, Islanders like myself will be evaluating their own personal career choices. Children will be advised to work for political parties on the weekend not at beer parties since patronage is the fastest way to a good government job.
I may be over 35 and disabled but it is still not too late to mend my ways and get a government job.
The story is accurate because it says so. “Results are based on a sample size of 872 employed Atlantic Canadians, and are accurate to within plus or minus 3.3 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times.” Charlottetown Guardian.
No use wasting your time reading anymore of this story. Get yourself a government job and enjoy the rest of your life.
It’s all news and you read it first in the Charlottetown Guardian.

Been there and done that! No place for a free thinker and definitely not for a doer. Great place for
‘philosophiers’.
