Government appoints Marcia Carroll to Disability In-Action Council

Having done nothing at the PEI Council of Disabled Carroll can turn her hand to DAC

Do-nothing Minister Doug Currie signals he wants stalling from the new Disability In-Action Council or DAC. DISABILITY ACTION COUNCIL TO MEET TODAY FOR ITS INAUGURAL MEETING

“I am pleased to announce that Marcia Carroll will chair the Disability Action Council. Marcia, Executive Director of the PEI Council of People with Disabilities (or PEICOD), brings with her a wealth of knowledge and years of advocacy for persons with disabilities. I am certain that the Council will be highly effective under her leadership,” said Minister Currie.

“Our Government has been working on a number of areas related to the recommendations from the Disability Services Review. The Disability Action Council will play a key role in helping us meet the needs of Islanders living with disabilities,” said Minister Currie.

Since coming to power the Liberals with Currie have increased the monthly allowance for the disabled $100 per month and little else. A few accessible housing units are being built. In the meantime, the PEI Disability Support Program excludes 8,900 seniors with disabilities. Only 5% of Islanders with disabilities are covered by the stingy government.

If Currie is pleased you can be sure he expects DAC to stall progress in disability reform.

Carroll was appointed to her role at PEICOD almost two years ago.

Her first test of character was to deny people with disabilities need to park close to the buildings at UPEI.

She has followed that up with almost two years of making no progress other than fattening her budget.

Two years running she plagiarized other people’s work in letters extolling the UN International Day of Persons With Disabilities. See Marcia Carroll plagiarizes letter to Charlottetown Guardian and Council of Disabled lacks ethics

The government and Doug Currie know they have an ally in Carroll, someone to act as government stooge while resisting needed reforms in human rights for Islanders with Disabilities.

Prove me wrong – give seniors coverage under the PEI DSP.

  1. Currie a former tory is trying to shore up support in his riding by appointing Carroll who like her uncle is too stupid to see through these ploys and is willing to sell out disability people like her uncle who sold out his constituents and Liberals while he was in office – birds of a feather – flock together…………..

  2. Here it is again, the old “better to have them in the tent peeing out than outside the tent peeing in” solution. Know what? It works.

  3. Of course your suggestion is anatomically impossible for the chairperson. The solution is better known as put them on a committee and kill it.
