The partial deal on climate change control in Copenhagen was thrown a “monkey wrench” at the last minute when China refused to have international monitoring.

Video and story follows

CBC News report

The near impossibility of a deal on climate change in Copenhagen has lurched to a partial agreement.

At the end of the week, China flexed it’s independence and refused to accede to international monitoring.

The deal struck is more of a framework than a contract. President Obama lent his stature to the deal; however, the US was is a weakened position after 8 years of environmental neglect by former President Bush.

The devil will be in the details over the next year as the framework is expanded and signed by the nations.
