NGO public servant gets house arrest for stealing $80K
PEI’s climate of entitlement corrodes the morals of public servants
The former head of Aid’s PEI has been found guilty of stealing $80,000 from the organization over a four year period. That’s a crime but who can blame her in PEI’s prevailing culture of entitlement. CBC AIDS PEI ex-head gets house arrest, community work for fraud
The say she used the money for on-line dating and home expenses, how plebian. Angela’s problem was she didn’t aspire to wealth, pomp and circumstance.

The only difference between Angela and our leaders is she wasn’t connected enough to the ruling party of the day to get her piece of the PEI corruption pie without getting caught.
Angela took her piece of the action through embezzlement but the politicians and their friends take the money with PNP grants, through shady contracts and patronage.
When the Premier of the Province, Robert Ghiz, boldly shouts out in public that corruption is fine if all the rules are kept, sort of, the populace know it is alright to steal. It has gotten worse since he came to power. Before that, the thievery was never openly acknowledged.

Angela would be what is called “disenfranchised”, not connected to the Conservatives with their PNP money like the members of Pat Binns’ staff – Peter McQuaid, Pat Dorsey and the wife of Dennis King. They called it “cottage” money back then since it built so many luxury cottages for high ranking Tories.
Angela wasn’t connected to the Liberal party or she could have scoffed away 100’s of thousands of dollars like Brooke MacMillan, Myrtle Jenkins Smith, Bush Dumville, Kathleen Casey, Pat Murphy, Robert Mitchell, George Webster, and Gordon MacInnis.
That’s Angela’s problem. She along with the former accountant at the racetrack could see people getting rich through corruption. It is all around us on PEI. Everyone knows someone on the take. That gets under people’s skin especially when their own situation is not that great.
Angela isn’t worried. She’s going to volunteer to work for the Liberal party like Chris Higgins. In no time she’ll get a great appointment to the Liquor Commission, IRAC or Worker’s Compensation.
