Power and talent of the Beatles has appealed to people for more than forty years across four generations

The success of The Beatles: Rock Band with a younger audience is proof of The Beatles long term popularity. It isn’t your Boomer Dad who buys Rock Band and plays air band in living room.

Sometimes that fact surprises me like it did Thursday evening. Before supper I got the urge to play Yesterday on the guitar. I tried to play it from memory as I did 40 years ago in the key of F but I couldn’t remember all the chords.

After supper with the song half mastered, I brought my guitar and book into the kitchen to practice it while the girls were doing dishes. If you can’t help, you can at least entertain was my thought.

After I finished Yesterday, Maggie who is 14 grabbed the Beatles songbook and flipped to Hey Jude

Do you still lick the Christmas card envelope?

Has CSI made you nervous about DNA

csi-dna-941.hmedium

Talking about evidence and court is creeping me out. You watch CSI Miami and everything is evidence. You drink from a Tim Horton’s coffee cup and some guy in a white suit and latex gloves is picking the thing out of a garbage can with tweezers.

Does it make you nervous too?

I’m wondering if I should lick the Christmas Card envelopes this year in case there is a crime scene when they get to their destination. Perhaps they can track me back to my place and I’ll be a suspect, albeit a thousand miles away.

My alibi could be shot by Greenpeace who put my soul in a cardboard box and ship it to Copenhagen or anywhere

Perhaps I’ll drop into Shopper’s Drug Mart for gloves and Q-Tips to moisten the glue.

Social media pictures and comments can become evidence in court

What we say on Facebook and other social media can and will be used against us in court. Hopefully, most people don’t have to go to court but if you are injured in an accident, it becomes a possibility.

Before Facebook, blogging and the current social media we had Internet bulletin boards. People would post the most personal stuff and it made me nervous for them. Why tell the world how you feel?

That was then and this is now where we all, some more some less, let our feelings hang out there. It’s fun, liberating but can create dangerous evidence in a trial.

Lawyer Nicolle Mangan points out the danger not just to the disabled but to anyone who gets into court in Working with Facebook in personal injury actions.

Criminals are making money without holding up banks these days. They run Internet scams that pretend to keep your computer safe from the threat of virus.

There are several respected names in virus protection like Avast (free), Norton, MacAfee, and Kaspersky. If you are worried about spyware one of the best and still free programs is Adaware.

There are some other good products but the recommendations for them are mostly bogus. Why bother since the great companies are well established and won’t rip you off.

Here are some of the ways they try to get your money.
