Boy with autism killed by mother
Autopsy today for autistic teen

Seow Cheng Sim, 51, is charged with first-degree murder for allegedly killing her 15-year-old son after a fight with her husband
An autopsy is to be conducted today to try to determine the cause of death of a 15-year-old autistic boy founder murdered in a Mississauga motel Sunday.
His mother has been charged with first-degree murder in the case.
Shortly after 11 a.m. yesterday, officers were called to a fourth-floor room at the Homewood Suites Hotel, in the area of Hurontario St. near Highway 401. Inside, they found the body of a 15-year-old boy with obvious signs of trauma. He has been identified as Tony Khor of Mississauga.
Const. J.P. Valade said the victim and suspect left the family residence Saturday after the suspect had an argument with her spouse.
Investigators allege the woman checked herself and her son – the couple’s only child – into a hotel room that night and killed him the next morning.
“We were called to the hotel by a person who had knowledge of what happened,” Valade said.
“This is an extremely sad and tragic case,” he said, adding that police are appealing to the public to contact the homicide bureau for any information regarding the family’s background.
Investigators refused to confirm a report that the woman called 9-1-1 herself after a failed suicide attempt.
The woman, 51, was arrested on scene. She has been identified as Seow Cheng Sim, the victim’s mother. She is expected to make an initial court appearance today in Brampton.
Autism is a mental condition, present from childhood, characterized by a reduced ability to respond to the outside world.
Last week, a Quebec woman was found guilty for the premeditated murder of her three young children that took place last New Year’s Eve.
A similar incident happened in 1994, when a Hamilton woman killed herself and her 16-year-old son with cerebral palsy.
It is extremely rare for mothers to kill their own children, especially teenagers. A 2003 study by Brookman and Maguire details that children under the age of one are most vulnerable to maternal filicide.
Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 3205, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Such a misleading title, at the time of publishing, the mother was still awaiting for her court date.
