File under: guess they don’t already have the LPs and what do I know

From a story in Guardian.co.uk

While I was holding out for the bargain bin, The Beatles Remastered sold 2.5 million copies within days of the September 9th, 2009 release.

In Canada the CD collection was number 4. In the US, a million copies were pressed and sold.

In the UK, the Beatles had 4 CDs on the top ten.

Not bad for a group that broke up forty years ago.

The figures underline the music industry’s view that consumers are still willing to pay for physical products such as CDs and vinyl provided that they are well packaged, contain additional material like new sleeve notes and photos, or if they are collectible.

Nostalgia packages are all the rage. There is more material locked up in vaults that would interest collectors including videos.

So I was wrong. It can happen. Beatles Box Set a bust at bargain basement price
