The cabinet shuffle that failed

Ghiz government, still unravelling
Premier Ghiz is signaling the dying days of his 20 month old government. The media is all a-buzz over why, how and what does the cabinet shuffle mean. It means Ghiz is desperate. Last night on Compass Ghiz tried to sound brave but looked scarred. He even contemplated his defeat in the next election. A leader should not visualize defeat on TV. Looks bad and they say you will become what you dream. Of course, Ghiz is worse than Richard Brown for revealing his inner doubt on Compass. He feels at home with Bruce Rainnie. After the scripted part Ghiz talks off the top of his head, very dangerous.
Ghiz knows how bad the PNP scandal is because he was the leader. Some people are likely to go to jail. Money laundering is illegal. Maybe Ghiz himself, who knows?
We’re just sniffing at the edges getting tidbits, hints and rumours. But we’ve been dead on with the story from the beginning. Gordon Cobb’s defection and confessionwas the nail in Ghiz coffin. It wasn’t the final nail, just a big one.
Ghiz big-brain and supposed cool head Chris LeClair is coming apart at the seams. His emails last week had an air of desperation. Private consulting for NGO’s is looking good these days as LeClair contemplates his future in and out of jail or at the least public disgrace. Even in the final days of the Binns government, Dennis King, aide to Premier Binns, always remained cool headed, honest and cordial. We’ll not accuse LeClair of anything like that today.
The Ghiz government has been unravelling since October when the story broke. The end of a regime is in play before it got ensconced. Greed is the downfall of many men.
In the meantime, 4.300 Islanders with disabilities despair of every getting the help Ghiz promised before the election. Where did the mystery reform committee go?
The media don’t want the story to unfold too quickly. The Guardian needs something to fill up the pages and CBC needs a counterpoint to the endless lost puppy stories it runs. Why do they have 60 minutes for Compass, remind me?
